This race took place on Sunday 3rd from Burswood, Perth. Freezing cold morning but clear after a week of rain. The 10k race had 259 starting competitors and the 5k course another 120 so it was a great turnout for a day when it could have been sooo much easier to stay tucked up in a warm bed!

The fastest girl on the 10k course was triathlete Katey Gibb (in the 20-24yr old category) with an awesome time of 38:22 !
In my age category (40-44), Lara Mills was the winner and also placed 6th overall with a time of 41:50. In fact 4 of the top 10 overall finishers were women in the 40-44yr old category.

So, whilst I'm no runner, I did ok for myself. My Garmin showed the 10k distance completed in 52:13 but I forgot to stop the recording so this file is a bit longer - no excuses though! Anyway, cateogry place was 24th/46.

My buddy Kate however did it in 45:12, and she placed 2nd in the 35-39 category! Well done Kate you legend!

It's actually not that often that you get the chance to run a straight 10k in race conditions as a fresh run (ie not triathlon) - always good to know your 10k time.

Using my TriathlonOz Member features, I am embedding my Garmin file direct to this Forum Post using the "Embed Activity Log" button. If you click on the green button that says "Open Activity Log" you will see the track in full on my Member Profile page and be able to zoom, use topo, streets, satellite or hybrid maps views etc. You can also download the file if you are a Member. Enjoy!
Some wish for it, others work for it!
