TriathlonOz - Michelle

We've feeling very lucky to have picked up a wonderful junior road bike for Chardae through another family in the tri club.

Chardae had outgrown her MTB bike (that was previously Leah's) and she rides her bike everyday to school so she had been asking for a new one. As a member of the North Coast TRYstars, she also has the opportunity to ride most Friday afternoons at club training, and as this is all triathlon training she has been asking if she could have a road bike (that makes 4 people in our family with road bikes)... sheshh!

I had seen this cute little orange Apollo Purzuit with the 650 wheelset a couple of years ago get handed down from one family to the other, and so I was thrilled when I got the call asking if Chardae would like it. Great timing!! Totally coincidental with Chardae's recent requests.

Kids grow fast, and I think she'll only last 18mths to 2 years before needing the 700 wheelset so then I'll move it on to another lucky family I guess.

Today was her first day taking it to school (with lock), and she can't wait for Friday training this week. The first opportunity for a triathlon event is the club TRYstars "have a go" event on Sat 15th December at Craigie Leisure Centre (free for club members) or the next day for a fee of $14 she can participate in the first "Tadpole" race of the TriEvents summer triathlon series which is held in our suburb! She's done all these events last year but only on her tiny MTB bike and now she want bike shoes and cleats and the whole deal.

So happy she likes cycling as much as I. But she's inherited my poor running performance. Oh well. It's the spirit that counts and TRYstars is great for kids like her.
Some wish for it, others work for it!
