TriathlonOz - David

Well two races this week. The first was not really a race but a good hit out in good conditions so was a perfect time to put the effort in. The NCTC Underground Half Marathon was a 21 km course around Lake Joondalup in Perth's north. I headed out with Kate Vernon and Gilly and hoped to hang on to these to for as long as possible. Kate started to pull away at about the 11km mark and I never saw her again but I kept Gilly in my sights and even pulled up along side him at the 18km mark. By this time Paul had pulled up with us also but I was smashed and let these two boys move ahead from about the 19km mark. I made it home 1:36:15 a PB for me for this distance so this was great.

I then coupled this with the Googee Olympic distance race on Sunday. I was leading my age group until about 500 meters from the end I got past by another competitor. I thought I was about 3rd so was not that fused when he past me but when I then found I was second by 16 secs I was not as happy. Had I know I was 1st would I have been able to go harder - maybe, but so could the other guy. Anyway a second, with second overall on the bike course, things are coming together at the right time.

I have added the activity logs for the two events below:

NCTC Undergound - Lake Joondalup

Coogee Olympic

If it's not hurting your not tri'ing!
