The Adventure Begins - 2010 Capricorn Resort Half Ironman

Well as I write this I am sitting outside gate 12 Perth domestic airport getting ready to depart Perth to head to Brisbane and then onto Rockhampton.

It was raining in Perth this morning so the logistics of parking at the long term and getting to the terminal dry had been on my mind overnight. When I got there it was a light sprinkle so I just took all my stuff and headed in quickly.

I have passed through the check in process and deposited the bike at the oversize package check-in, been to the newsagent and purchased a new book for the trip "Area 7" by Matthew Reilly and now the travel game begins.

Today the destination is Yeppoon. I am booked into the Capricorn Resort and the transfers are all arranged so hopefully myself and my bike and event equipment will be sitting in a resort suite later today.

The 2010 Capricorn Resort Half Ironman is the second race of the 2010 season. This year I have booked into 4 of the HIM events around Australia and this number 2. If you are not familiar with HIM then a quick run down is a 1.9km swim followed up with a 91km bike and finishing off with a 21km run. Yeah yeah I hear you, madness, idiot and other things come to mind but I actually really enjoy it. For this event I am hoping to build on my performances to date and am looking to be at or better than my race 1 time of 4hrs 44mins, we will know on Sunday how that goes.

I will keep you updated on the event as the weekend progresses, for now it is time to open the cover of the new book and wake up again in Brisbane.
