So here I am at Week 16 - race week but I am a bit behind with my blogs so I'm going to do a few quick retrospective blogs, starting with this one for Week 13, which was Easter.

The main "event" of the week was a social run on Easter Monday organised through members of our tri club (North Coast). It was a perfect day for an morning run around Lake Joondalup starting at Neil Hawkins park - rising mist, mild temperatures. Totally peaceful. There were two routes - 17k and 21k which most of the 50 participants did. A few of us injured ones just did an out and back. I had the kids ride alongside me on their bikes and I just did a 5k out and 5k back but got the knee pain at 6K and had to do the last bit as a walk/jog.

This run really highlighted that the knee pain isn't going away just by positive thinking so I decided that the rest of the week's running sessions should be DWR - deep water, however Wednesday's DWR session brought on the knee pain again during the session and for the rest of the day after.... ummmm. David commented that didn't this therefor mean that it's got nothing to do with the patella tracking since there is no impact? No idea, still a mystery to me too.

Friday was Sue's birthday and she had asked a few of us to join her for a morning birthday run along the coast from Sorrento. It meant I missed my swim but I really wanted to be part of that so taped up and turned up ready for what I thought was going to be a 10k run. We ended up turning at 2.5K so since I had thought we were going further I tried to put some effort into the return and ended up finishing my fastest 5km run for the entire season.

I took a Saturday rest day instead of my usual long ride as Sunday (15th April) was my first Olympic Distance race for the season - 3 weeks out from my main race.

It was very much a reduced load this week due to the ongoing pain management and rescheduled program but Friday's good run gave me confidence leading into the Coogee triathlon.

Some wish for it, others work for it!
