Well after two days of breaking in the new bike I headed down to Coogee for the last sprint distance race of the season. The event was smaller than some of the others throughout the year and as we did not have the chip based race timing system we were only given a final result for the overall race.
It was a great day, weather was perfect the location was beautiful the only issue from my point of view was that the bike course was rough and too short. But there is no point complaining it was a great day out.
Michelle's parents are over from
Sydney and they both came along to support me at the event. Michelle's father is also a keen cyclist so there has been plently of riding happening whilst they have been visiting. In fact Colin and I will ride
home from Coogee after the event and Colin even rode down to the event.
So the overall result for this 750m swim, 21km bike and 5km run event:
Overall Time: 1:16:35
Category Place: 8/28
Overall Place: 44/152
Running up the beach after the swim
Running into transition to the bike
Pwering along using the new bike
Running lap one complete
To the finish line
During this event and in preperation for the
Busselton Half Iron Man, I made the change from my previous food and drink formulas and switched over the full range of Shotz products (these are all available in the
Shop in the
Sports Nutrition category). So far the Shotz bars, gels and drinks have proven themselves to be one of the best nutrition products I have used, so if you have not used them why not give them a go. The Shotz drink product is being provided to competitors during the HIM.
So from here in two weeks is the big one - The
Busselton Half Iron Man and yes I am doing the lot 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21km run (I hope I am anyway). The training has been full on, now the diet is being adjusted all in rediness. I will post more on this as it gets closer.
