Tomorrow, 18 May we start to lay supplies across the Little Sandy, Great Sandy, Gibson and a touch of the
Tanami Desert in preparation for 88 half marathons to be walked in three months, all going
well. The ground work will take 2-3 weeks as we dig the supplies in, travelling by 4x4..
I say all going
well because this is the first time I am taking on such a challenge and therefore untested. I am walking solo without support.
The fastest supported runner to complete the Canning was Dave Holleran, only one day slower than the fastest unsupported cyclist. Kate Leeming, ultra cyclist said of the Canning that is presented some of her toughest cycling to that date. Pushing her bike over sand dunes in 40 degree heat was challenging as were the corrugations.

For those who might think of taking on the Canning challenge, my efforts may be of interest. I am walking with a SPOT and have linked to SPOT Walla.
