Two weeks till race day and starting to move into a taper period. This week was a heavy week considering I raced on Sunday I was shattered so Monday became the rest day. I was feeling a little flat this week but managed a good week of solid training.

I must have put a little too much into the running because on Thursday night when I ran down to Intervals I came unstuck on my way home. I was about 2 kms from home and I just ran out of power. I had to walk I was so weak. I realised I did not eat enough during the day after the morning windtrainer session (which was hard). So I had $4 in my skins pocket and pulled into the local Coles (looking like a sweating smelly mess) and purchased 5 bottles yes 5 for $4 of the Coles brand soft drink - good healthy stuff. I know about this stuff because I drink a fair amount of this during the week, so I was able to load up on the sugar by consuming a bottle. I then had to walk the rest of the way home because running with 4 bottles of drink in crappy plastic bags was not going to work. Problem with walking was I got really really cold - hopefully this will not amount to anything.

My Saturday ride started poorly, my head tube was loose so had to fix this at 5:40, in my rush I did not get the steering alignment right, and after 2 kms of riding had to head home to correct this. I was late and Michelle continued onto the club ride meeting spot for 6am. I left home the second time at 6am made my way along the route, made it to the meeting spot at 6:18 so was about 14mins behind. I decided I wanted to be at the Wannerro road turn around (about 45kms from where I was) first so hit the ride. Cutting a long story short, I dropped a water bottle twice - they just fell out of the carrier (one smashed as is now in the bin) and with about 150 meters before the turn around I passed the first club rider. I was please with my efforts and then decided to continue the effort on the way home and had a solid ride back to complete the 105km trip.

So now the taper period starts, I will continue a solid work rate for week 13 just reduce the distance a little.

If it's not hurting your not tri'ing!
