To keep my fitness levels up it is always easier to find
events to enter and this gives a goal or something to work towards. So over the winter months I decided to join in one of the North Coast Tri
Clubs Cyclosportif road race teams. I found a place in the fastest team the Nyalators.
The first event I completed in was this one in
Lancelin as the first event clashed with another event and my training schedule for the
Busselton Half Ironman.
So off to
Lancelin we go with a team of 5 - I have never ridden with these guys before so it was all a bit unclear as to how hard we were to ride. Also being my first event in one of these series the whole thing was new. Anyway I had my parents over from
Sydney so we decided to make it a family day trip to spend some time touring around after the event on our way
home. As I had to take my bike and there was going to be 6 of us we took two cars so first thing in the morning my Dad and I headed up to
Lancelin and made ready for the event.
We caught up with the team and made our final preparations and headed off on the B distance ride of 65km. I had just come off the Half Ironman training so was in really good shape - in fact a little too good and found I had to hold back on the bike to keep the team together. We had an easy ride out to the east of
Lancelin and back completing the 65 km race in what I would say was a very slow time of 2:11:25 with an average of 29.77km/hr. Anyway a slow ride but still a nice day out on the bike in a new location that I have not ridden before.
We had a nice trip
home going via
Ledge Point,
Two Rocks and
Yanchep.
