What a weekend, what an event, what crappy weather, what the hell happened!
Well it was a great race (mind you it was a little difficult) however in the wash up there was actually only one team of the 50 teams that actually finished the full course. The winning team compete with WA Triathlete of the year and Olympic rower completed the event in 25:11:02.
Team ExplorOz failed on the first day during the 60km bike leg as we missed a critical
intersection and left turn at around 11pm on Saturday night. We were stuffed our heads were pounding and all we wanted to do was to be tucked up in bed not out on the course with about 20km to go at 11:30pm. We were actually running very
well before our mishap and it was a real shame however when day 2 was scheduled to start (4AM race briefing and 5AM start) we were still in bed and heard to roof of our accommodation almost come off as the rain was hitting the windows sideways. I am sure the rest of the team were happy to be still in bed and not out on the 9km paddle leg (this wiped out a number of teams).
Anyway 1 team finished the full event and 16 teams finished various parts of the event using the short course options. If you want more information or to see the results visit the event pages at
