I notice a lot of people haven't been comfortable with the name change of Half Ironman to Ironman 70.3. We all accept there is a certain element of awe associated with the word Ironman, but some people think its not right for anyone to say they're done an Ironman, if they haven't so will you keep calling it a Half? The problem now seems to be that it refers to a brand, whereas before it refered to a distance.
Interested to hear the thoughts of others on this....

Michelle,
I think it is a positive change. I for one do not like to think that the effort that is put into doing a 70.3 event should be reduced to something called a half. The word half kind of makes it sound like you have only done half of an event which kind of reduces the image in my opionion.
Sure a 70.3 is not an Ironman but it is not a Half Ironman either. Yes it is half the distance but a half something just deminishes the event. Also the brand name is Ironman so is it Half of the brand or half of the event?
Anyway my opionion is I like it and I just call it 70.3.
What a great question.
