Had my first experience with barefoot running this morning. It wasn't intentional... I didn't find the right socks this morning and after 6k my orthotics starting to dig in and soon I was limping from pressure/blisters and no matter of lace adjustment would relieve the pain. So off with the shoes! I felt liberated and noticed better use of my full foot - especially toes. I had the sense I was getting more spring in the push-off from all my toes, especially the outer ones which are normally cramped up in my shoes but it was only enjoyable when I could find a grassy verge! It was pretty uncomfortable on the path and crossing driveways and roads and there was lots of
debris about as it has been raining heavily for a few days. But I made my 10k
home without causing more blisters. I just might get myself a pair of vibrams and try them every now and then.
