This is an awesome book if you want a scientific training program you can DIY, without a coach but you need to enjoy the theory! The aim is to develop 3hr race time (bike) fitness in an 11 week training program. The book can only be put into practise if you want 4 workouts/week of between 6-10 hours on bike. Impractical for me to follow, but really really interesting reading - the science behind the program is worth reading in the first few chapters but it made my head swim a fair bit!! To make maximum use of the program, you need a power meter (powertap etc) and perhaps have a VO2 max assessment.
Some wish for it, others work for it!
