Last weekend's Busselton Ironman 70.3 brought challenging conditions to the start of the race with a late storm on the eve of race day changing the typical perfect swim at Busselton Jetty into a churning black choppy mess. Pros and age-groupers alike commented later at the athlete function how conditions affected visability, navigation, and stamina and some great race report stories have started to come out in blogs from within the participant field.

WA's Kate Bevilaqua was pipped at the finish line by 49 seconds in a courageous show-down by WA's Felicity Sheedy-Ryan with a race time of 4:21:31. Lisa Marangon from NSW finished third in 4:24:46. Kate shares her race report in her blog Any age-groupers from the day will find it interesting to see how she describes the day.

In the men's Pro race, a shock win by 20 year old James Hodge from Tasmania in 3:55:08 was inspiring and has apparently put him on the radar of some top managers. Good luck with that! Matty White from SA finished 2nd in 3:56:33, and New Zealander Callum Milward finished 3rd in 3:58:07.

Pro's like Kate are off to Boise in USA, whilst Challenge Cairns is the next big race in Oz.

Some wish for it, others work for it!
