This year our local event in Hillarys was run on an overcast and windy day. There was a string easterly blowing which made the bike ride a little interesting. Today I decided to leave the 303 wheels on the bike to opt for a better run the in the wind. I think this was the correct move as a number of people came off the bike on the Whitfords round about (which was the windiest part of the ride).

At least the sun was hidden which kept the temps down and the stage was set for a good day. We headed down early and arrived at 6AM to get Leah (daughter) ready for the Tadpoles race (these are a TRYStars level race run by Trievents). She loves doing these events and they are run very well by the Trievents staff. They even seem to have the timing right so that parents can get the kids through the event and organised before we head off the do our own race.

As usual 40-44 was the last wave in a nice purple cap (better than the usual pink or yellow) starting at 8:50, yes nearly 3 hours after arriving at the event. But at least I was relaxed, I was almost asleep on the beach during the briefing (however as required I listened intently just in case they had decided to put in a green zone on the bike course or something).

As you can see I had a good race, I was happy with the whole thing and just wish I could have past Rob on the run - I basically swam, rode and ran with him the whole way and he had 10 seconds on me at the end. I just could not find it in me to get around him.
